About Bobby Walsh

Robert A. “Bobby” Walsh is a real estate professional with extensive experience in residential and commercial sales and development in Rockford, Illinois. His real estate experience has been in both large and small markets and has most recently focused on projects in the rapidly growing downtown Rockford area. Prior to his career in real estate, Bobby worked in the hospitality and service industry in Chicago and Boston and as a trader at the Chicago Board of Trade, trading 10-year notes.

Bobby Walsh was born and raised in the suburbs of Boston. After college, he made his way to Chicago, where he met his future wife Jayne Hanley, an Early Childhood teacher at Summerdale Elementary School. Bobby and Jayne made the decision to raise their two boys in Jayne’s hometown of Rockford due to the strong sense of family, community, education, and inclusivity in the area. Since establishing himself in Rockford, Bobby has immersed himself in the community with his involvement in real estate development projects, local politics, coaching, and fundraising.

After the 12th Ward Alderman position became available, Bobby was encouraged to run for the role by many of his family members, colleagues, and neighbors, who know how important the Rockford community is to Bobby and what a positive difference he would be able to make. Bobby’s desire to serve his community and his neighbors is based on his strong sense of family and his years in the real estate and service industries. He views his future constituents as his future customers and service to those constituents is a priority.

If given the opportunity to serve the Rockford community, Bobby will focus on improved public safety and awareness, ward infrastructure, open lines of communication from constituents to the City of Rockford, and finally, to ensure that our neighborhoods, neighbors, and guests are treated with dignity and respect. Bobby will also make sure that citizens are not just aware but involved in the decision-making process with policies that affect their businesses and families. Bobby’s focus, communication, and attention to detail will be invaluable assets when it comes to solving issues that arise in the ward. He will be an unwavering advocate for each resident and will ensure that those in the city are effectively represented.

Bobby, Jayne, and their two boys, Bobby, 8, and Hanley, 5, reside in the Edgewater neighborhood. Bobby is an excellent cook, an avid gardener, volunteers as a youth baseball coach for the Rockford Boys & Girls Club, is a graduate of the Rockford Citizens Police Academy, and a member of the Rockford Area Association of Realtors.
